A Letter From Our President
Hello and welcome to the Beta Xi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at UCLA!
To all of our alumni and members from other chapters, we hope you feel some Theta love through our site. To all of you considering going through recruitment, we welcome you and hope we get the chance to meet you soon. Going through recruitment can be a little bit nerve-racking, but has overall been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. While every single chapter at UCLA is wonderful and the right place for someone, it was clear from day one that Theta was right for me. What stood out to me about this house, in particular, was the way that the women were fearlessly themselves. From the moment I stepped in the door, I felt comfortable and accepted for who I was and it has been that way every day since. So, when I opened my bid card to read the name Kappa Alpha Theta, it felt like I was finally home. The women of Kappa Alpha Theta are diverse in their talents and passions and work tirelessly in all that they do. |
Thetas are dedicated to their studies at UCLA and are involved in a plethora of extracurricular activities here as well. We have UCLA athletes, nurses, artists, singers, dancers, engineers, actors, and everything in between. As a national organization, Theta prides itself the most on being built up of leading women and our chapter at UCLA surely fulfills this. We have leaders inside this house, in organizations on campus, in the professional world, and out in the community. I love being a part of this house because every day I am inspired to work harder and know that I am fully supported in all of my successes and all of my failures. Above all else, I am proud of the sisterhood that exists within this house. Theta has brought me my best friends and the greatest memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I truly do not know how I would have made it through the stressful and sometimes lonely place that college can be without these women by my side.
While we are proud of the work we do at UCLA, our greatest pride comes from the work that we do for our philanthropy For the Child. Every year, we host a 4 on 4 basketball tournament, Theta Shootout, where we raised over $27,000 for For the Child last year alone. We love this event because not only does it bring us together, but it allows us to make a huge difference in something greater than ourselves.
I can truly say that serving as the President of the Beta Xi chapter at UCLA has been my most treasured experience. These women make me so proud to call them my best friends and sisters through all that they do. When I went through recruitment two years ago I chose Theta, and I will continue to choose Theta for the rest of my life.
Theta Love & Mine,
Evie Wigdale
